Last week, HB Threads was honored to welcome Illinois State Representative Theresa Mah for a visit with our associates, families, and staff.
As a co-sponsor of Illinois’ new Dignity in Pay Act, Rep. Mah came to see what fair-wage, inclusive employment looks like up close—and to hear directly from the people most impacted. During her visit, our associates shared what earning a real paycheck means in their everyday lives: helping cover essential expenses, enjoying outings with family and friends, and building savings for the future. Their stories were a powerful reminder that dignity in pay isn’t just policy—it’s independence, choice, and opportunity.
Illinois is now taking steps to phase out sub-minimum wages by 2029. At HB Threads, we’re proud to be ahead of the curve: every associate already earns above minimum wage today. It’s part of our commitment to meaningful work, fair compensation, and a workplace where people of all abilities are valued for their contributions.
We’re grateful to Rep. Mah for taking the time to visit HB Threads, listen, and continue championing policies that expand inclusive employment across our state. When we invest in fair wages and opportunity, our communities grow stronger—and more people get the chance to thrive.
Thank you, Representative Mah, for standing with our associates and supporting dignity in pay.
